"When the Body Gets working appropriately, the force of Gravity can flow through, then spontaneously, the body heals itself"- Ida Rolf

Anatomy Trains Structural Integration is a form of myo-fascial release and movement re-education with the intention to reorganize your structure, improve posture, function and reestablish the body's relationship to its vertical axis. Structural Integration focuses on the connective tissue, or fascia, of the body. Fascia surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, organs, and nerves, binding some structures together while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.
The work is powerful but it is by no means a quick-fix. Rather, it allows an opportunity for the client to make changes in the way they hold themselves by freeing up restrictions in order to establish a better relationship with gravity. Once this relationship is better established the body can begin to heal itself.
The work is typically done in a series of 3 or 12 sessions using many techniques to soften, lengthen and spread tissues while directing specific movements from the client. This gives me time to approach the body globally rather than just assuming I should work where the pain is. Each session starts with a body reading where I will access your structure. I may ask you to do simple movements or a gait assessment. Depending on what I see and notice about your patterns will determine my strategy.
The work is done with client wearing shorts or underwear and in a variety of positions including some work while seated on a bench and some in standing. The client is fully involved in the work and you will be asked to make small movements while on the table to help open and reeducate the connective tissues and muscles (myofascial).
